Did You Know? Community Support Powers Our Work

The Greater Valley Center Fire Safe Council is run entirely by volunteers who live in Valley
Center. Since 2009, the council has cleared brush along key roads, including Lilac, Old
Castle, Woods Valley, and Paradise Mountain Roads. Since 2010, our free chipping days
have helped residents create defensible space before wildfire season. These programs
depend on support from neighbors, local businesses, and community partners.

What your support funds

Free community chipping days — Residents bring trimmed brush and branches to be
chipped at no cost, reducing the dry fuel around homes.
Brush clearance along roads — Clearing vegetation along key roads used by residents
and first responders.
Wildfire education — Seminars, Ready-Set-Go workshops, and support for CERT
training.
Home hardening resources — Guidance and materials that help residents protect
their homes from embers during Santa Ana wind events.
Preparedness outreach — Printed guides and community events that help residents
sign up for alerts and make a plan before wildfire season
